Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio’s acclaimed survival drama ‘The Revenant’ is set to return to theatres worldwide on March 13, giving audiences another opportunity to watch the Oscar-winning film on the big screen.
According to a report by PTI, the announcement was shared by 20th Century Studios through a post on its official Instagram handle on Monday. The studio released the film’s poster along with the message: “The Revenant returns to theatres this Friday, March 13. Get tickets now.”
Directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, the film was originally released in 2016 and quickly gained recognition for its intense storytelling and visually striking cinematography. The movie is set in the 1820s and follows the journey of frontiersman Hugh Glass, portrayed by DiCaprio, who is left for dead after surviving a brutal bear attack.
The story takes a dramatic turn when Glass’s hunting team member John Fitzgerald, played by Tom Hardy, betrays him and murders his son before abandoning him in the wilderness. Determined to survive against the odds, Glass embarks on a relentless journey across the harsh American frontier seeking justice and survival.
Upon its release, ‘The Revenant’ was both a commercial and critical success. The film grossed more than $533 million at the global box office and earned 12 nominations at the Academy Awards.
The project also marked a milestone in DiCaprio’s career, earning him his first Oscar for Best Actor. The film went on to secure two additional Academy Awards, with Iñárritu winning Best Director and the film also taking home the award for Best Cinematography.
DiCaprio was last seen in ‘One Battle After Another’, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. The film, released in 2025, also featured Sean Penn in a key role.
