In a significant boost for Indian content creation, Netflix and Ekta Kapoor-led Balaji Telefilms Ltd. have announced a long-term creative partnership aimed at bringing rooted, powerful, and innovative Indian stories to audiences across the world.
The announcement was made official on Saturday, with both companies highlighting the collaboration as a major step toward creating high-quality, culturally resonant entertainment across genres and storytelling formats. The news was also shared via an Instagram post on Netflix India’s official handle, reflecting the growing anticipation around the alliance.
Balaji Telefilms, helmed by Padma Shri awardee and International Emmy winner Ekta Kapoor, has been at the forefront of Indian storytelling for over two decades, spanning film, television, and streaming. Known for her deep understanding of audience sentiment and the ability to create iconic characters and relatable narratives, Kapoor now brings that legacy to a global streaming partnership poised to explore new creative frontiers.

With this new partnership, the stakes are higher and the ambitions larger, as both companies gear up to deliver an expanded slate of fresh narratives.
The new content lineup includes an untitled series currently in advanced stages of development. The collaboration will span various divisions of Balaji — from Balaji Motion Pictures to Balaji Telefilms Digital — reinforcing the commitment to tailor-make stories specifically for today’s streaming-first audiences.
As the OTT space becomes increasingly competitive, this collaboration is expected to usher in a new wave of storytelling that blends scale, emotion, and local flavor with global appeal.
