Netflix and AMC Global Media have entered into a global multi-year streaming licensing agreement that will bring every series in AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ universe to Netflix, significantly expanding the franchise’s international reach while making the entire collection available on the streaming service under a single deal.
Under the agreement, Netflix will stream the complete lineup from ‘The Walking Dead’ universe, including the flagship ‘The Walking Dead’, ‘Fear the Walking Dead’, ‘The Walking Dead: World Beyond’, ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City‘, ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’ and ‘The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live’. The rollout will begin later this year, with titles becoming available as rights clear across different markets.
The companies, according to a Netflix media release, said the pact builds on their existing relationship and is designed to expand the global audience for one of television’s biggest franchises while complementing AMC’s own direct-to-consumer strategy through AMC+.
The agreement also extends the availability of the franchise on Netflix through 2032.
AMC Global Media is home to many of the popular stories and characters in the TV and film universe, and a premier destination for passionate and engaged fan communities around the world. The company creates and curates celebrated series and films across distinct brands and makes them available to audiences everywhere.
“This agreement reflects the incredible and enduring appeal of ‘The Walking Dead’ universe,” Netflix said, adding that the partnership will allow fans around the world to discover or revisit every chapter of the franchise in one place.
AMC Global Media Chief Executive Officer Kristin Dolan said, “We are thrilled to expand our successful relationship with Netflix through this global agreement, making the entire ‘The Walking Dead’ universe available to audiences around the world while continuing to strengthen AMC+ as the destination for our newest programming.”
She added that the partnership broadens the franchise’s reach and helps introduce it to new viewers globally.
