NDTV emerged as one of the biggest winners in digital election coverage this year, with both its English and Hindi news channels recording strong viewership numbers during the high-stakes election results day on May 4. The network led conversations across YouTube as audiences tracked counting trends, political shifts, and real-time analysis throughout the day.
According to an NDTV Press Release, NDTV 24×7 became the No.1 English news channel on YouTube on results day, clocking 43.82 million daily views gained, more than twice the viewership of its nearest competitor, as per DataBeings’ Daily Views Gained rankings for May 4. The strong performance reflected the network’s extensive election programming, which combined live reporting, expert discussions, and data-driven analysis.
In the Hindi news segment, NDTV India continued its strong digital run by emerging as the most-watched Hindi news channel on YouTube in April 2026. DataBeings’ rankings showed the channel garnered 1.795 billion views and captured a 22 percent market share during the month. The achievement also marked the third consecutive month that NDTV India held the top spot in Hindi digital news viewership.
The network’s election coverage featured extensive on-ground reporting from key battleground states along with analysis backed by NDTV Datafy, the channel’s data intelligence platform. Through real-time graphics, infographics, and expert commentary, NDTV focused on providing viewers with detailed context and election insights beyond headline trends.
Commenting on the performance, Rahul Kanwal, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of NDTV, said election coverage remains one of the toughest tests for any newsroom and added that viewers increasingly look for journalism they can trust during major national events.
The strong digital performance further reinforces NDTV’s position in the evolving online news ecosystem, where live streams, connected television, and YouTube consumption continue to shape how audiences engage with election coverage in India.
