Netflix has announced a new live-action spin-off series titled ‘Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure’. The upcoming show will be set in the 1950s, several decades before the events of the original ‘Stranger Things’ series. It is scheduled to premiere on Netflix in 2028.
According to an official announcement published on Netflix Tudum yesterday, the new series will take place before the events of ‘Stranger Things’ and the stage play ‘Stranger Things: The First Shadow’, which explores the past of Henry Creel.
The series will introduce a new setting, new characters and a different story while continuing the horror, mystery and supernatural elements of the original show. Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, the creators of ‘Stranger Things’, will develop the new series along with writer Kate Trefry.
Kate Trefry, who also wrote the script for ‘Stranger Things: The First Shadow’, will serve as the show’s co-creator, writer and showrunner. Filmmaker Joe Wright will direct the first three episodes and will also serve as an executive producer.
Other executive producers include Matt and Ross Duffer through their production company Upside Down Pictures, Shawn Levy, Paul Dichter, Shelley Meals, Andrea Sperling and Pavlina Hatoupis.
Production of ‘Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure’ will take place in New Mexico. Netflix has not yet announced the cast or the exact premiere date. The series is expected to arrive on the streaming platform in 2028.
