NDTV has once again emerged as the leading news brand in the India weekly reach rankings of the Reuters Institute Digital News Report 2026, extending its leadership streak for the sixth consecutive year across both traditional and digital news platforms.

According to an NDTV press release, the network has topped the India weekly reach rankings in two key categories covered in the Reuters Institute Digital News Report 2026 — TV, radio and print news brands, and online news brands. The achievement highlights NDTV’s continued ability to connect with audiences across multiple platforms in an increasingly fragmented media landscape.

In the TV, radio and print news category, NDTV secured the highest weekly reach at 33 percent. It was followed by BBC News at 28 percent, The Times of India at 27 percent, Hindustan Times at 24 percent and Republic TV at 23 percent. The ranking places NDTV ahead of a mix of international news organisations, established print publications and national television news networks.

The report also showed strong performance for NDTV in the digital space. In the online news category, NDTV Online recorded a weekly reach of 29 percent, leading the rankings ahead of BBC News Online at 26 percent, India.com at 24 percent, The Times of India Online at 21 percent and Republic TV Online at 21 percent.

The dual leadership across both categories reflects NDTV’s cross-platform presence at a time when audiences increasingly consume news through television, digital, mobile, social media and video-first formats. The network said the rankings underline its continued relevance and audience engagement across platforms.

The Reuters Institute Digital News Report 2026 comes amid rapid changes in global news consumption patterns. As viewers and readers move fluidly between traditional and digital platforms, the report tracks how audiences discover, consume and interact with news, while also measuring broader shifts in trust, technology adoption and media behaviour.

The latest recognition follows a similarly strong performance in the 2025 edition of the report, when NDTV 24×7 recorded the highest weekly reach in the TV, radio and print news category and NDTV Online topped the online news rankings within the India sample. The 2026 findings mark another year of leadership for the network.

Commenting on the achievement, Rahul Kanwal, CEO and Editor-in-Chief, NDTV, said, “This is a proud moment for everyone at NDTV. To lead the Reuters Institute Digital News Report India reach rankings once again, in such a competitive news market, is a reminder of the trust and connection NDTV continues to enjoy with audiences. People are consuming news across many screens, platforms and formats, but our focus remains clear – credible journalism, sharp reporting and stories that serve human interest.”

The Reuters Institute Digital News Report is among the world’s most closely watched studies on news consumption. The 2026 edition covers 48 markets and is based on nearly 100,000 interviews with online news consumers globally. The report examines how audiences engage with news across different formats and platforms, providing insights into evolving media habits and audience preferences.

NDTV said its continued leadership reflects its transformation from a broadcast-focused news brand into a multi-platform news network with a growing presence across television, digital, mobile, social media and video-led formats, while maintaining its long-standing editorial approach.

The network added that the rankings are not only a measure of audience reach but also an indicator of recall, trust and long-term audience engagement built over more than three decades of news coverage.
