Meta Platforms has officially launched a new range of premium subscription plans for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp as the company expands its consumer monetisation strategy beyond advertising and verification services.
The new feature-rich “Plus” tiers are being introduced globally and are aimed at heavy users, creators, influencers, and users looking for greater personalisation and deeper engagement tools across Meta’s platforms.
The announcement was made by Meta’s Head of Product Naomi Gleit, who said the rollout marks the first phase of a larger strategy that will eventually bring all paid consumer offerings under a unified subscription ecosystem called “Meta One”.
The move comes at a time when Meta is significantly increasing investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure and data centres. The company has projected spending of up to $145 billion this year as it aggressively builds its AI capabilities and long-term technology ecosystem.
Unlike Meta Verified, which focuses on identity verification, account protection, and customer support, the new Plus subscriptions are centred around user experience, engagement, and platform customisation. Meta clarified that both offerings will continue to operate independently.
The newly launched plans unlock a wide range of visual and functional upgrades for users. Subscribers will gain access to custom app icons, personalised typography for bios, animated “Super Heart” reactions, premium stickers, and customised themes across supported apps.
Instagram Plus, in particular, introduces several advanced engagement and analytics features designed for creators and power users. Subscribers can view detailed story rewatch metrics, access extended story limits, create unlimited close-friend lists, and even use anonymous story preview options.
WhatsApp’s premium features focus more heavily on communication personalisation. Users subscribing to the Plus tier will receive access to custom chat themes, exclusive ringtone options, premium sticker collections, and enhanced tools for organising and pinning chats more efficiently.
Meta is also preparing to expand the ecosystem further through the introduction of AI-powered and enterprise-focused subscription services under the upcoming Meta One brand. The company plans to begin pilot testing advanced AI and management tools in select markets.
Alongside the consumer rollout, Meta is introducing specialised bundles for businesses and professional creators in countries including Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Thailand, and Bangladesh. These enterprise-focused packages will offer advanced demographic insights, profile-linking tools, content scheduling systems, and increased organic visibility across Facebook and Instagram.
The latest launch highlights Meta’s growing focus on subscription-driven revenue models as social media platforms increasingly compete to offer premium experiences, creator-focused analytics, and AI-powered engagement tools to users worldwide.
