India’s indie gaming industry is entering a new phase, with developers increasingly creating games for global audiences and competing in international markets. moving beyond small-scale experimental projects, a growing number of Indian studios are now focused on building high-quality titles for PC, console, and mobile gamers worldwide.
Highlighting this shift, gaming incubator LVL Zero has showcased four promising startups from its inaugural cohort that are developing ambitious games across genres such as simulation, strategy, survival, and action. backed by MIXI global investments, nazara technologies, and Chimera VC, the incubator selected the studios from more than 240 applications.
According to a LVL Zero press release, among the selected teams is Impulse Mechanics, which is developing ‘Mech It Happen!’, a physics-based sandbox game that encourages players to build creative machines to solve puzzles and overcome challenges. the studio believes that fun, player-driven gameplay can help the title attract audiences across global markets.
Another standout is YK game studio, currently working on ‘Chiklet’s Human Products’, a quirky survival game with a humorous twist. In the game, animals take charge of farming humans, creating an unusual and entertaining gameplay experience designed to appeal to international sandbox and survival game fans.
Xigma Games, the studio behind the successful ‘The Bonfire’ franchise, which has recorded more than 10 million downloads worldwide, is now building ‘Metal Haven’. the upcoming sci-fi strategy game features base building, tactical combat, multiplayer alliances, and long-term progression systems. the studio aims to prove that globally competitive strategy games can be created from India.
Meanwhile, family-run studio Arckon Arts is developing ‘Stickman Infinite Kingdom’, an action-strategy real-time strategy (RTS) game that combines cinematic stickman animation with tactical battles and story-driven gameplay. the studio sees growing opportunities for Indian developers to reach global players through digital distribution platforms and international publishing networks.
