The Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) and Wacom India have strengthened their partnership to promote Manga, Anime, and digital creative education in India through new learning initiatives.
As part of the collaboration, IICT and Wacom India organised a free Manga Masterclass on June 22, 2026, at the IICT campus in Mumbai. The workshop was led by renowned Japanese Manga artist Akiko-San, who has over 30 years of industry experience.
Participants learned about the history of Manga, storytelling, character creation, and professional drawing techniques. The Masterclass was conducted in two sessions one for IICT students and another open to the public with 30 participants in each batch. More than 250 people registered for the event, reflecting the growing interest in Manga and Anime among Indian creators and students.
According to an IICT press release, the workshop was part of a broader India-Japan collaboration focused on promoting Anime, Manga, and creative technology education, representatives from Wacom Japan, Wacom India, JETRO, and IICT also discussed expanding training programmes, industry partnerships, knowledge exchange, and skill development for aspiring creators.
To further strengthen their partnership, IICT and Wacom India exchanged an addendum to their existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement will support workshops, expert sessions, industry-oriented training, mentorship programmes, and access to professional digital creative tools for students.
Dr. Vishwas Deoskar, CEO of IICT, said such international collaborations will help equip India’s future creative professionals with global exposure, advanced technology, and industry relevant skills.
Koji Yano, global head of the creative experience unit at Wacom Co., Ltd., said the workshop aims to inspire young Indian creators through Manga while strengthening creative ties between India and Japan.
Rajiv Malik, senior director at Wacom India, said the company remains committed to supporting India’s AVGC sector through creative education, industry academia partnerships, and world class digital tools, adding that the collaboration with IICT will help nurture globally competitive creative talent.
