Hulu has decided to cancel the critically praised sitcom ‘Mid-Century Modern’ after just one season, bringing an early end to the show that had garnered attention for its sharp writing and stellar performances.
According to a PTI report, the series was created by David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, the duo behind several popular television projects. The show starred Nathan Lane, Matt Bomer, the late Linda Lavin, and Nathan Lee Graham, and received widespread appreciation from critics for its witty storytelling and ensemble cast.
Max Mutchnick confirmed the news on Monday via an Instagram post, expressing gratitude to the cast, crew, and fans who supported the series. While Hulu has not provided a detailed reason for the cancellation, industry analysts suggest that despite critical acclaim, the show may not have met viewership targets necessary for continuation.
Fans of ‘Mid-Century Modern’ have taken to social media to express disappointment over the abrupt ending, praising the performances of the cast and the nostalgic charm of the series. The show, set in the mid-20th century, explored cultural shifts and personal dynamics with humour and sensitivity, leaving a memorable mark despite its short run.
Hulu continues to expand its original content slate, but ‘Mid-Century Modern’ will remain a brief, yet fondly remembered addition to the streaming platform’s offerings.
