Collective Studios’ Historyverse has announced ‘Vikram Betal’, a new AI-powered show that reimagines one of India’s most enduring storytelling traditions for contemporary audiences, inspired by tales of King Vikramaditya and Betal.
The project aims to blend traditional narratives with modern filmmaking techniques and emerging technologies while preserving the essence of the original stories.
The announcement was made as part of Historyverse’s growing slate of culturally rooted content initiatives. The show seeks to introduce a new generation of viewers to the timeless tales known for their moral dilemmas, philosophical questions and enduring relevance.
By leveraging artificial intelligence and innovative storytelling formats, Historyverse hopes to make these stories more accessible and engaging for today’s audiences without losing their cultural significance.
As part of the initiative, Birla Open Minds has joined the project as its Knowledge Partner. The collaboration is designed to support the educational and cultural objectives of the series, reflecting a shared vision of using technology to deepen engagement with India’s rich heritage and storytelling traditions.
Beyond the show itself, the partnership will provide students across the Birla Open Minds network with opportunities to explore the creative and technological processes behind modern content creation.
Speaking about the project, Vijay Subramaniam, Founder and Group CEO of Collective Artists Network, said the vision behind Historyverse is to bring India’s history, folklore and storytelling traditions to new audiences through formats that feel contemporary and relevant.
“ ‘Vikram Betal’ is a perfect example of an enduring IP that continues to spark imagination and critical thinking. Our partnership with Birla Open Minds allows us to extend this journey into education, creating meaningful ways for young learners to connect with India’s cultural heritage through the power of storytelling,” he said.
Nirvaan Birla, Managing Director of Birla Open Minds, said the project brings together cultural heritage and emerging technology in a way that can inspire young learners.
