The Department of Telecom (DoT) said on Tuesday it has revised policy for the issue and renewal of no-objection certificate (NOC) for sale and rent of international roaming SIM and global calling cards of foreign operators in India.
The revised policy strengthens the mechanism to protect the interests of the Indians visiting abroad, and also streamline the procedures in line with the other licensing regime, the Ministry of Communications said in a statement.
The revised policy mandates the no-objection certificate holders to make provision for providing information regarding customer care service, contact details, escalation matrix, itemised bills, information related to tariff plans, services offered, etc., ANI reported from New Delhi.
Provision has also been made to strengthen the billing and consumer grievance resolution mechanism in a time-bound manner by the NOC holders with provision for the appellate authority in DoT, the government said.
Further, the revised policy also streamlines the application process and other procedures for the NOC holders in line with the other norms for licences and registrations in the DoT.
The revised policy, which came into effect from January 14, 2022, was finalized after taking into account recommendations of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on the sale/rent of international roaming SIM and global calling cards of foreign operators in India.
