In a pioneering move to unravel the intricacies of polyamorous relationships, international streaming platform DocuBay, from IN10 Media Network, presents ‘Going Poly.’
This groundbreaking documentary takes a deep dive into the lives of individuals in Mumbai and Kolkata, exploring the complexities of love, loyalty, and societal acceptance in non-traditional relationships, the company said in a press statement.
Polyamory, a topic seldom addressed by mainstream media in India, becomes the focus of DocuBay’s latest offering. The platform aims to provide viewers with an insightful understanding of this phenomenon, which often faces societal veto in a predominantly monogamous culture.
Girish Dwibhashyam, COO of DocuBay, expressed the platform’s curiosity about the scarcity of movies or documentaries on polyamorous relationships in India, stating, “Polyamorous relationships are a phenomenon in India, but surprisingly we found hardly any movie or documentary made on the topic. The taboo surrounding this topic intrigued us, prompting us to explore it further, for our viewers.”
Produced by VICE Studios, ‘Going Poly’ provides viewers with a candid look into the lives of polyamorous individuals spanning diverse backgrounds and age groups. Through intimate interviews and candid moments, the documentary navigates the complexities of polyamory, addressing issues such as jealousy, morality, and inheritance.
Anil Chaudhary, Director of VICE India, explained the extensive research conducted to grasp the nuances of polyamorous relationships and their significance. “Our goal was to present a balanced portrayal of polyamory, free from bias or judgment.”
The documentary also delves into the critical role of consent in polyamorous relationships. Despite numerous challenges faced during research and filming, the platform hopes that ‘Going Poly’ contributes to the ongoing conversation about love, relationships, and the societal acceptance of non-traditional partnerships.
‘Going Poly’ is set to stream on DocuBay starting February 14, 2024. With its eye-opening content, the documentary promises to stimulate a broader dialogue about love and relationships in a society that traditionally adheres to monogamous norms.
