20th Century Studios’ film ‘Free Guy’ and Marvel Studios’ film ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ are amid the Disney event titles that will have exclusive theatrical releases, versus getting an amalgam release on Disney+ Hotstar.
Disney CEO Bob Chapek confirmed the news that the studio’s two forthcoming titles — superhero movie ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ and Ryan Reynolds ‘Free Guy’ — will be released exclusively in theatres.
During a teleconference on Thursday, Bob said both films will have a 45-day unique run in cinemas after which they will available on video-on-demand and streaming platforms.
Now, the film ‘Free Guy’ a Disney-owned 20th Century Studios, will release in the US on August 13.
While the Simu Liu-starrer Shang-Chi will release after three weeks later on September 3.
Earlier on Thursday, Dwayne Johnson also announced his Disney film, Jungle Cruise, which will be released on the big screen and on Disney+ Premier for an additional $30 on July 30.
The film stars Emily Blunt and was originally set as an exclusive theatrical release.
As the films, Jungle Cruise joins Cruella (May 28) and Marvel Studios’ Black Widow (July 9) which going day-and-date in theaters and on Disney+ Premier. The studio previously also released Mulan under the Premier branding.
