Taking strides in environmental sustainability, Dish TV India has teamed up with ARC, an educational social impact startup, to address India’s growing e-waste crisis.
This partnership aims to raise awareness among young students and communities about responsible e-waste management and the need for sustainable practices.
According to a press release, Dish TV and ARC launched their first e-waste awareness drive at DPS Greater Faridabad, bringing together over 700 students, teachers, and school staff. This initiative focused on teaching children about the environmental impacts of e-waste and promoting responsible disposal methods for discarded electronics. Through hands-on workshops and activities, students learned about sustainable solutions, empowering them to make environmentally sound decisions.
To further engage students, the campaign introduced the “Diwali Defenders” comic, featuring young superheroes, the E-waste Warriors. This creative effort encourages a “waste-free Diwali” and inspires students to collect e-waste from home and bring it to school for responsible disposal, making e-waste management fun and relatable for young audiences.
“Our commitment to sustainability involves inspiring communities to take action,” said Manoj Dobhal, CEO of Dish TV India. “This initiative empowers students to become active stewards of the environment, transforming our mission into a movement for a cleaner, greener planet.”
ARC co-founders Ritu Malhotra and Anit Gupta emphasized the importance of collaboration in driving change: “By educating children on e-waste, we’re creating proactive change-makers. Our partnership with Dish TV, especially through campaigns like Diwali Defenders, is inspiring students to lead change in their communities.”
Looking ahead, Dish TV and ARC plan to expand this initiative to more educational institutions, fostering a network committed to long-term environmental awareness and sustainability across India.
