Warner Bros. Discovery is celebrating the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough with a special programming tribute across its flagship channels, Discovery Channel and Animal Planet, honouring one of the most influential voices in natural history storytelling.

The initiative, announced as part of a Warner Bros. Discovery press release, brings a curated line-up of shows to Indian audiences, reflecting Attenborough’s decades-long contribution to wildlife filmmaking and environmental awareness.

In India, Discovery Channel has played a significant role in introducing generations of viewers to Attenborough’s work, fostering a deep connection with nature-led storytelling. Over the years, the channel, along with BBC Studios Natural History Unit, has been associated with globally acclaimed titles such as Planet Earth and Life, both of which helped define the genre and elevate its global appeal.

Leading the tribute is ‘Life in Colours’, which premiered on May 8 on both Discovery Channel and Animal Planet. Narrated by Attenborough, the special explores his lifelong fascination with the natural world, focusing on how animals use colour for survival, communication, and courtship. Using advanced filming techniques, the programme reveals behaviours and visual details often beyond the range of the human eye, offering viewers a fresh perspective on biodiversity.

Also part of the line-up is ‘Parenthood’, a re-release narrated by Attenborough that captures the emotional and often perilous journey of raising offspring in the wild. The film documents moments of instinct, protection, and survival across species, from first steps to early hunts, highlighting the universal nature of parenting in the animal kingdom.

Sai Abishek, Head of Factual Entertainment, Lifestyle & Kids, South Asia at Warner Bros. Discovery, said Attenborough’s storytelling has shaped how generations connect with nature. He noted that his work continues to inspire curiosity and a deeper understanding of the planet, with a particularly strong resonance among Indian audiences through Discovery Channel and Animal Planet.

With this tribute, Warner Bros. Discovery not only celebrates a landmark birthday but also reinforces the enduring impact of storytelling that encourages audiences to observe, understand, and care for the natural world.
