A mysterious ancient coin, seven unemployed friends and an abandoned mansion hiding a centuries-old curse come together in ‘Bhootam Bhayyam’, a Marathi horror comedy that is set to take audiences on a supernatural adventure.

Presented by Zee Studios Marathi and produced under the Kyra Kumar Creations banner, the film will premiere exclusively on ZEE5 Global on September 25, 2026. Directed by debutant Ramchandra Gaonkar, the film features an ensemble cast including Chhaya Kadam, Pushkaraj Chirputkar, Karan Sonawane, Neel Salekar, Saurabh Ghadge and Shubham Jadhav, along with Priyadarshan Jadhav, Manmeet Pem and Sidhant Sarfare.

At the centre of the story are seven unemployed friends who believe they have found their ticket to instant wealth after coming across an ancient coin that is said to have the power to turn anything into gold. Their search for fortune leads them to Raniwada, an abandoned mansion that holds dark secrets and a centuries-old curse.

Unlike a conventional horror film, ‘Bhootam Bhayyam’ brings together horror, comedy, mystery and adventure. What begins as a seemingly simple treasure hunt takes an unexpected turn as the friends become increasingly driven by their desire for wealth.

The situation becomes more complicated when one of the friends, Gaja, goes missing. The remaining members of the group are then forced to confront the supernatural forces surrounding Raniwada while trying to understand the mystery behind the ancient coin and the secrets hidden inside the mansion.

The mysterious Raniwada, the unusual coin and the dynamics between the seven friends form the core of the story. Along the way, the film explores themes of friendship, greed, survival and the consequences of chasing quick wealth, while using humour to balance its supernatural elements.

For Ramchandra Gaonkar, the film also marks his first feature as a director. The filmmaker has brought together horror, comedy and adventure in an attempt to create a story driven by suspense while keeping the entertainment quotient intact.

Chhaya Kadam has described the film as a different experience, particularly for its combination of horror and humour. Pushkaraj Chirputkar has also highlighted the unpredictable nature of the story and the changing dynamics between the group of friends.

With its mix of supernatural mystery, comic situations and adventure, ‘Bhootam Bhayyam’ is set to premiere exclusively on ZEE5 Global on September 25, 2026.
