Prime Video has officially announced the global premiere of its upcoming action-comedy film ‘Playdate’, arriving on November 12, 2025. The film promises a laugh-out-loud thrill ride packed with unexpected twists, hilarious moments, and over-the-top action, starring Alan Ritchson and Kevin James in a never-seen-before pairing.
As revealed in a Prime Video press note, ‘Playdate’ is an action-comedy rollercoaster that blends suburban dad life with full-blown chaos. Directed by Luke Greenfield, best known for ‘Let’s Be Cops’ and ‘The Girl Next Door’, the film delivers a refreshing twist on the buddy-comedy genre, fusing slapstick charm with muscle-bound mayhem. Ritchson and James lead the narrative as two dads caught in an unbelievable day that spirals wildly out of control.
The story follows Brian (Kevin James), a recently unemployed accountant who agrees to a casual playdate with Jeff (Alan Ritchson), a charismatic stay-at-home dad. What begins as an afternoon of small talk and football tossing quickly escalates into a fight for survival when a group of mercenaries targets them. With Brian fumbling his way through absurd obstacles and Jeff revealing suspiciously expert survival skills, the duo is forced into a high-octane adventure where minivan madness meets professional hitmen.
Greenfield’s direction captures the perfect balance of absurdity and adrenaline, turning ordinary suburbia into an action-packed playground. The film brings together a vibrant cast including Sarah Chalke, Alan Tudyk, Benjamin Pajak, Banks Pierce, Hiro Kanagawa, with Stephen Root and Isla Fisher.
Produced by Luke Greenfield, Jason Benoit, Sean Patrick O’Reilly, Mark Fasano, and Jeffrey Greenstein, with executive producers Alan Ritchson, Dan Spilo, Neil Goldman, Michelle Meyers, Alexis Garcia, Matthew Goldberg, Lee Broda, and Jamal Sannon, Playdate is written by Neil Goldman.
With its mix of laugh-out-loud humor, high-speed chases, and heartfelt moments, ‘Playdate’ is set to be the ultimate weekend watch for audiences seeking pure fun.
‘Playdate’ will stream exclusively on Prime Video worldwide starting November 12, 2025.
