Indian esports organization S8UL has added another major achievement to its name, as its league of legends team has qualified to represent India at the Asian Games 2026 in Japan. the prestigious event will be held in Aichi-Nagoya from September 19 to October 4, 2026.
According to a S8UL Esports press release, the qualification came after a strong performance in the regional qualifiers. the team, consisting of Akshaj Shenoy (Kat Bot), Aakash Shandilya (Infi), Sanindhya Malik (Deadcorporal), Mihir Ranjan (Lotus), Ahmed Shahid (Nero), and Rahul Bisht (Bob), earned the right to compete for the country after winning the National Esports Championships 2026, India’s official qualification tournament for the Asian Games.
A total of 14 teams participated in the regional qualifiers, which were played in two stages. India was placed in group B and delivered an outstanding performance, defeating Jordan, Sri Lanka, and Kazakhstan to remain unbeaten and finish at the top of the group.
The team then advanced to the split stage, where it faced tougher opponents, including Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Saudi Arabia. Although India could not win those matches, its overall performance was enough to secure a place in the Asian Games main event.
India will now face some of Asia’s strongest league of legends teams, including Japan, Chinese Taipei, and Vietnam, at the continental tournament.
The qualification is particularly special because four players—Kat Bot, Infi, Deadcorporal, and Lotus—were also part of India’s squad at the Hangzhou Asian Games 2023, where the team finished fifth. their previous experience is expected to help India perform better this time around.
Speaking about the achievement, team captain Kat Bot said qualifying for the Asian Games is a proud moment for the entire squad. He added that many players will be competing in the event for the second time and are excited about the challenge ahead. He also thanked S8UL for supporting the roster and helping the team improve over the years.
S8UL Co-founder and CEO Animesh Agarwal praised the team’s dedication and hard work. He said representing India at the Asian Games is one of the greatest honours for any athlete and expressed confidence that the players will give their best on the international stage.
The qualification further highlights S8UL’s growing contribution to Indian esports. earlier, S8UL athletes Gurashish Singh and Prateek Bhaunt also secured qualification for the Asian Games in Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6, respectively.
Apart from the Asian Games, S8UL is also making its presence felt globally through the Esports World Cup 2026. the organization has already qualified in titles such as Apex Legends, Chess, Fortnite, and Honor of Kings.
With players representing India across multiple esports titles, S8UL continues to play a key role in strengthening the country’s presence on the international esports stage and creating opportunities for Indian talent to compete at the highest level.
