The All India Digital Cable Federation (AIDCF) participated in a workshop organised by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on July 31 to strengthen the audit process for the Digital Addressable System (DAS) ecosystem.
Held at TRAI Headquarters in New Delhi, the workshop brought together TRAI-empanelled auditors, broadcasters, Distribution Platform Operators (DPOs), MSOs and other industry stakeholders to discuss ways to make the audit process more transparent and efficient.
According to a TRAI press release, the workshop focused on training audit firms and explaining the revised audit framework, which came into effect on April 1, 2026. Under the new framework, distributors are required to submit their annual audit reports to broadcasters by September 30 each year.
Audits will now be conducted on a financial-year basis, and broadcasters can nominate representatives to be present during the audit process to improve transparency. Annual audits have also been made optional for distributors with fewer than 30,000 subscribers, although broadcasters can still request an audit of such operators at their own cost.
In a LinkedIn post after the event, AIDCF said the workshop provided a valuable platform for discussions and collaboration among auditors, broadcasters, MSOs and other industry stakeholders.
The federation said participants exchanged ideas and best practices while reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the audit framework and making the process more transparent, efficient and beneficial for all stakeholders.
TRAI Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti said regular audits help ensure Distribution Platform Operators comply with technical standards and accurately report subscriber data, contributing to a more transparent and trusted broadcasting ecosystem.
