GTC Punjabi has premiered its latest fiction series ‘Sweety Beauty Parlour’, a coming-of-age drama that brings the aspirations and struggles of small-town Punjabi women into focus. Airing from yesterday at 6.30 pm Monday to Friday, the show centres on a young woman determined to build her own identity against the backdrop of societal expectations.
The series follows Sweety, played by Mannat, who dreams of opening her own beauty parlour and creating an independent life, even as subtle pressures around her push her to settle for less. The narrative blends ambition, love and vulnerability, offering a story that feels both intimate and relatable in its portrayal of everyday struggles.
At the heart of the show is Sweety’s evolving relationship with Goldy, portrayed by Navdeep. Their dynamic adds emotional depth, moving between warmth and tension as their journeys intersect. The series is directed by Gaurav Rana, known for Punjabi films ‘Chauser’ and ‘Mohre’, who brings a cinematic touch to television storytelling with a strong focus on character-driven narratives.
The beauty parlour setting becomes more than just a workplace, emerging as a space where personal stories unfold and unspoken emotions come to the surface. The show leans into realism, capturing the quiet resilience and inner conflicts of its characters rather than relying on overt drama.
Speaking about the launch, Rabindra Narayan, Founder and MD of GTC Network, said the character of Sweety represents countless young women from small towns who dare to dream bigger and work towards those aspirations. He noted that the storytelling approach, combined with performances by the lead cast, gives the show an authenticity that stands out in the current television landscape.
The launch of ‘Sweety Beauty Parlour’ also signals a broader content push by the network, which has announced upcoming projects including a singing reality show ‘Surtaaj of Punjab’ and additional fiction and short-format content currently in development.
Available across DTH platforms and streaming services like JioTV and YuppTV, the GTC show is aimed at both domestic viewers and global Punjabi audiences.
