Spotify has introduced a new feature called Playlist Notes, allowing users and Spotify editors to add personal thoughts and context to playlists.
According to an official announcement from Spotify, the feature is designed to give playlists more meaning by allowing creators to explain why a particular song, podcast episode or audiobook was added.
Spotify’s global team of editors will use Playlist Notes to share the thinking behind their music selections on some of the platform’s popular playlists. The notes can explain why a song was selected, what makes it culturally relevant or why it fits a particular playlist.
Spotify is also introducing Editor Profiles. These profiles will allow listeners to learn more about the editors behind the playlists, including their favourite tracks and albums and the playlists they contribute to.
The Editor Notes and profiles are currently rolling out to Free and Premium users aged 16 and above in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. They are initially available on playlists including ‘Today’s Top Hits’, ‘RapCaviar’, ‘Hot Country’, ‘All New Pop’, ‘mint’ and ‘Fresh Finds Hip-Hop’.
