Regional cinema continues to find wider audiences on digital platforms as Ultra Play OTT said it is set to stream the acclaimed Bengali crime thriller ‘Madam Sengupta’ in Hindi from March 13, 2026. The film stars Rituparna Sengupta and Rahul Bose in lead roles, alongside Kaushik Sen and Ananya Chatterjee. It is directed by Sayantan Ghoshal.
At the centre of the story is a celebrated cartoonist whose life spirals into darkness when she begins searching for answers behind the mysterious death of her daughter. As she digs deeper, her investigation uncovers a disturbing pattern of poetic murders that gradually leads her toward someone from her past — her ex-husband.
With ‘Madam Sengupta’, Ultra Play OTT, the platform said in a press release, continues its effort to spotlight notable regional stories and bring them to a broader national audience through digital distribution.
Set against the layered cultural backdrop of Kolkata, the ‘Madam Sengupta’ narrative weaves together elements of crime, drama, and psychological intrigue. As the protagonist’s search intensifies, long-buried secrets surface, revealing unsettling connections between art, obsession, and revenge.
Bengali cinema has long been recognised for its rich storytelling tradition, literary depth, and strong performances. Over the decades, the industry has produced films that balance artistic sensibilities with powerful narratives, earning respect across the Indian film landscape.
To make the film accessible beyond Bengali-speaking viewers, the platform is also presenting the title in Hindi. By dubbing regional films into widely spoken languages, Ultra Play aims to expand the reach of diverse Indian storytelling and introduce viewers to narratives from different parts of the country.
Alongside the film’s release, the platform has introduced a weekly subscription plan priced at Rs.19, offering viewers flexible access to its catalogue of Hindi films, classics, web series, and dubbed regional titles. This complements the platform’s Rs.365 annual subscription plan, designed to make premium entertainment more accessible.
