The European Union Film Festival (EUFF) is set to make a grand return with its milestone 30th edition, celebrating three decades of cinematic, cultural, and artistic collaboration between Europe and India. Kicking off on October 31 in New Delhi, this year’s edition will feature 28 acclaimed films from all European Union (EU) member states and Ukraine, presented across 29 languages.
According to a PTI report, the Delhi leg of the festival will run until November 9 before travelling to Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Organised by the Delegation of the European Union to India in partnership with the embassies of EU member states and regional cultural centres, EUFF 2025 will host screenings at four prominent venues in the capital — India Habitat Centre, Instituto Cervantes, Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan, and the Liszt Institute – Hungarian Cultural Centre.
“This year marks a truly special milestone for us at the EUFF, as we celebrate 30 years of cultural exchange, creativity and dialogue between Europe and India through cinema,” said Herve Delphin, Ambassador of the European Union to India. “Films have always been a powerful unifier, and in recent years, collaborations between Indian and European filmmakers have only deepened, bringing together diverse perspectives and shared stories through co-productions. EUFF 2025 is, above all, a celebration of creativity, diversity, and the timeless power of storytelling to connect people across borders,” he added.
The 2025 edition promises a rich mix of genres and themes that highlight Europe’s cinematic depth and diversity. Among the most anticipated titles are The Missile (Finland), Dying (Germany), Matters of the Heart (Denmark), and Happy (Austria). The line-up also includes standout films like Julie Keeps Quiet (Belgium), The Trap (Bulgaria), Pelican (Croatia), The Waves (Czech Republic), Lioness (Estonia), Holy Cow (France), and Behind the Haystacks (Greece), each exploring unique cultural narratives and human experiences.
Festival curator Artur Zaborski said this year’s selection reflects the “richness and diversity of European storytelling.” He added, “This year’s selection is both bold and deeply moving — a celebration of courage, imagination and joy. These films cross borders and generations, weaving together stories of identity, love, hope and defiance.”
The European Union Film Festival has long served as a bridge between Indian and European audiences, offering a platform for artistic exchange and dialogue. As it enters its 30th year, the festival continues to champion cinema’s ability to transcend boundaries and bring cultures together through the universal language of film.
