Amazon Prime Video has faced criticism after editing guns out of its ‘James Bond’ promotional posters, prompting the streaming platform to remove the artwork entirely.

According to a PTI report, the controversy erupted after fans noticed that 007’s signature firearms had been digitally removed from several classic film posters on Prime Video UK. Iconic images, including those from ‘Dr. No’ and ‘GoldenEye’, showed James Bond without his Walther PPK, while in ‘A View to a Kill’, Roger Moore’s arms were lengthened to crop out the gun from the frame.

The edits sparked outrage online, with critics calling the changes excessive and disrespectful to the franchise. Writer Scott McCrea described the move as “nothing less than cultural vandalism,” as reported by entertainment outlet Deadline. Amazon Prime Video has since taken down the altered posters, addressing fan concerns and highlighting the sensitive balance between marketing, cultural perception, and preserving iconic imagery.

This incident underscores the challenges streaming platforms face in navigating fan expectations while reimagining classic content for modern audiences.
