A special screening of filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri’s latest work ‘The Bengal Files’ will be held at PVR Cinemas, Lulu Mall, on Thursday at 5.30 pm.

The screening is being organised by Aarsha Vidya Samajam and is expected to draw the presence of several distinguished personalities.

According to a UNI report, the film revisits the painful history of India’s Partition in 1947, which uprooted nearly 20 million people and claimed about two million lives. Through its narrative, ’The Bengal Files’ highlights key events such as the Direct Action Day riots in Calcutta on August 16, 1946, and the subsequent Noakhali massacre, both of which hastened the acceptance of Partition.

The organisers said the film not only sheds light on those tragic chapters of Indian history but also draws parallels with contemporary times, underlining demographic and extremist challenges in regions such as Bengal and Kashmir. “It is our moral duty to watch this film, reflect on history, and ensure that the tragedy of Partition is never repeated,” Aarsha Vidya Samajam said in a statement.

The organisers have urged invitees to confirm attendance beforehand and be seated at the venue by 5.30 pm sharp to avoid disruption once the screening begins.
