Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is set to return with a brand new season from August 29, promising fans across the country a richer, more immersive experience than ever before. JioStar, the exclusive broadcast and digital partner for the league, has announced a host of innovations for Season 12, ranging from fresh language feeds to new broadcast technologies designed to bring the action closer to viewers.
According to a press release,, the league will be telecast in eight languages — English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Marathi, along with the newly introduced Bhojpuri and Haryanvi feeds. The expansion, JioStar said, is aimed at deepening kabaddi’s reach across its traditional heartlands. Bhojpuri star Ravi Kishan will headline the Bhojpuri commentary, while popular former players including K. Prapanjan, Mohit Chhillar, Vishal Mane and Mamatha Poojary will lend their voices across regional feeds.
Season 12 will also introduce immersive broadcast elements never seen before in PKL. Two dedicated dugout views will capture the drama on the sidelines, while a newly launched ‘Referee Cam’ will offer audiences a rare first-person perspective of the intensity on the mat. A split-screen feature will further allow fans to follow live action alongside revival sequences, bringing an added layer of drama to each raid and tackle.
“Season 12 of PKL is about making the game more accessible and engaging than ever. By presenting the league in eight languages, including Bhojpuri and Haryanvi for the first time, we are taking kabaddi deeper into its heartlands and closer to its fans. Combined with innovations like referee cam and dugout views, and a refreshed format that brings aggression to the fore, this season will deliver a richer and more immersive storytelling experience across platforms,” said Siddharth Sharma, Head, Audience Engagement, Viewership and Monetization Initiative at JioStar.
On the competitive side, new rules have been introduced to ensure every contest has a decisive finish. League matches ending in a tie will now be decided by tie-breakers. A new ‘play-in’ format has also been added between the league stage and playoffs — while the top two teams will automatically qualify, teams placed 3rd and 4th will clash in a mini-qualifier, and those ranked 5th to 8th will battle for remaining playoff berths.
Season 12 kicks off on August 29 with a southern derby as Telugu Titans face Tamil Thalaivas. Viewers can follow the entire season live on Star Sports Network and JioHotstar.
