Veteran Hindi cinema actress Rekha will be honoured with the prestigious Excellence in Cinema Award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM).
According to a PTI report from New Delhi today, the legendary actress will attend the festival as the Guest of Honour, where her outstanding contribution to Indian cinema will be celebrated.
As part of the tribute, IFFM will screen Rekha’s iconic film ‘Umrao Jaan’, directed by Muzaffar Ali. The 1981 film is regarded as one of the most significant milestones in Rekha’s career and completed 45 years of its release this year.
The festival will celebrate Rekha’s decades-long journey in Indian cinema, marked by memorable performances and a diverse range of roles. Her celebrated body of work includes acclaimed films such as ‘Silsila’, ‘Khoobsurat’, ‘Ijaazat’, ‘Ghar’, ‘Khoon Bhari Maang’, ‘Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi’ and ‘Koi Mil Gaya’.
Rekha, one of Hindi cinema’s most respected and admired performers, has been recognised over the years for her exceptional acting talent and contribution to the film industry. The IFFM honour will further celebrate her legacy and influence on Indian cinema.
