Apple TV+ has renewed Seth Rogen’s workplace comedy ‘The Studio’ for a second season, following the positive reception of its debut run. The show, which offers a satirical look at the inner workings of a Hollywood animation studio, will return with new episodes promising more of its offbeat humour and behind-the-scenes chaos.
According to a PTI report, the series has struck a chord with audiences and critics alike for its sharp writing and ensemble cast, with Rogen at the helm not just as a lead actor but also as co-creator and executive producer.
The show premiered earlier this year on Apple’s streaming platform and quickly found its fanbase thanks to its blend of absurdist comedy and industry insight.
Set in a fictional animation company, ‘The Studio’ dives into the egos, absurdities, and pressure-cooker environment of a business constantly at odds with its own creative vision. Rogen plays a frustrated but well-meaning executive navigating eccentric animators, meddling producers, and endless workplace dysfunction. The first season’s success lies in how it cleverly balances satire with genuine affection for the industry it pokes fun at.
Apple TV+ is betting on the show’s momentum and has already begun pre-production for the upcoming season. The streamer is reportedly looking to expand the world of ‘The Studio’, introducing new characters and story arcs that dive deeper into the animation pipeline and Hollywood politics. Rogen will continue his dual role both on and off camera, with his frequent collaborators also returning for the sophomore outing.
With the renewal, Apple TV+ reinforces its commitment to original comedy, joining a growing list of critically acclaimed shows on the platform. For Rogen, whose previous television work includes cult hits like ‘Freaks and Geeks’ and ‘Preacher’, ‘The Studio’ marks a successful return to episodic comedy with his signature voice and sensibility.
