In a move reaffirming its long-standing commitment to nurturing talent from within, the India Today Group has reportedly announced a wave of senior leadership appointments across its core media verticals. The latest organisational shifts come on the heels of prominent exits by senior journalists Rahul Kanwal, Sudhir Chaudhary, and Shiv Aroor.
According to an internal memo circulated by Vice-Chairperson Kalli Purie outlines the key elevations. Gaurav Sawant now anchors the high-visibility 8 pm prime-time news slot, previously helmed by Rahul Kanwal. The reshuffle underscores the group’s confidence in proven editorial leadership during a time of high transition.
Siddharth Zarabi has been appointed Group Editor, Business Today, and will oversee the brand’s presence across digital, print, and television formats. Zarabi will report directly to Group Chairman Aroon Purie and Vice-Chairperson Kalli Purie. In a parallel move, Alok Nair, the COO of Business Today, has been given independent charge of the Business Today Strategic Business Unit (SBU) and will now report to Group CEO Dinesh Bhatia.
The digital arm of the group has also seen a key return. Kamlesh Kishore Singh, back from a sabbatical, resumes his role as News Director at India Today Digital—reinstating editorial continuity at a time when digital operations remain a critical focus area.
Further strengthening its news gathering operations, the group has restructured its input desk under the guidance of Supriya Prasad. Snehanshu Shekhar, Seema Gupta, and Parthajit Bhattacharyya will now work under his leadership to streamline content coordination across platforms.
The appointments serve as a strong signal of the India Today Group’s strategic preference for internal stability and leadership continuity. By tapping long-serving professionals for crucial roles, the media house reinforces a culture of internal growth, resilience, and editorial integrity amid a shifting news media landscape.
