Bharti Airtel has once again demonstrated its market resilience and commitment to innovation, recording the highest net wireless subscriber additions in October 2024. The company added 1.93 million mobile users, as per the latest report from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), making it a standout performer amid a dynamic telecom landscape, IANS reported.
While Airtel celebrated this significant milestone, its competitors faced challenges. Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea reported notable subscriber losses, with declines of 3.76 million and 1.98 million, respectively. On the other hand, BSNL gained 501,224 users, and MTNL experienced a marginal drop of 2,273 users.
India’s total wireless user base saw a slight reduction, falling by 0.29 percent from 1,153.72 million in September to 1,150.42 million in October, reflecting the shifting dynamics in the sector.
Airtel solidified its dominance in the Machine-to-Machine (M2M) segment, holding a commanding market share of 51.82, equivalent to 29.08 million connections. This positions Airtel as a leader in this rapidly growing space, ahead of Vodafone Idea and Reliance Jio, showcasing its foresight in catering to emerging digital demands.
The company also topped the Visitor Location Register (VLR) rankings, achieving a 99.48 active subscriber rate. This metric, which gauges the percentage of active subscribers on a network, highlights Airtel’s dedication to providing reliable connectivity.
“Airtel continues to focus on delivering a high-quality network experience and innovative services that meet evolving customer needs,” the company said in a statement, reiterating its commitment to both urban and rural markets.
In an era of increasing spam threats, Airtel has emerged as a pioneer with its AI-powered spam detection solution, launched in September. Within just two and a half months, the system flagged 8 billion spam calls and 800 million spam SMSes, identifying nearly 1 million spammers daily.
This proactive approach aligns with TRAI’s directive to curb unsolicited communications. Airtel’s solution alerts users about potential spam in real time, bolstering customer trust and safety.
As India strides toward greater digital inclusion, Airtel’s efforts in expanding connectivity and launching customer-centric innovations underscore its role as a key enabler of the country’s digital transformation. With robust growth in subscriber numbers and a continued focus on delivering cutting-edge solutions, Airtel is setting benchmarks in the telecom industry.
With these strategic advancements, Airtel remains at the forefront of India’s evolving telecom sector, ensuring reliable services and fostering digital empowerment across the nation.
