Apple TV+ has revealed details of its upcoming thriller series ‘Down Cemetery Road,’ featuring Academy Award-winning actress Emma Thompson and Golden Globe-winning actress Ruth Wilson in lead roles.
Thompson will portray struggling Oxford private eye Zoë Boehm, while Wilson takes on the role of Sarah Tucker, a woman consumed by the search for a missing child.
The series, based on Mick Herron’s acclaimed novel, will be helmed by lead writer and executive producer Morwenna Banks. Exploring themes of mystery and conspiracy, ‘Down Cemetery Road’ follows Zoë and Sarah as they unravel a complex web of secrets and deception in the wake of a devastating explosion and disappearance in their quiet suburban neighborhood.
Jay Hunt, creative director for Europe at Apple TV+, expressed excitement about the project, citing the talent of Thompson and Wilson as well as the compelling narrative of Herron’s writing. The series joins the roster of acclaimed Apple TV+ originals, including the recently renewed espionage drama ‘Slow Horses,’ also based on Herron’s work.
‘Down Cemetery Road’ is produced by 60Forty Films, with Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, and Tom Nash serving as executive producers alongside Banks, Thompson, and Herron. Natalie Bailey takes the reins as lead director for the series.
Since its launch in November 2019, Apple TV+ has garnered critical acclaim and numerous awards for its original content, including hits like ‘Ted Lasso’ and the Oscar-winning film ‘CODA.’ With a growing catalog of premium entertainment, Apple TV+ continues to solidify its position as a leading streaming service for audiences worldwide.
