A wave of frustration has hit Spotify users on Android as reports flood in regarding the app’s persistent crashing upon launch.
According to IANS, revealed that the recent beta update for Spotify is at the root of the problem, causing the app to crash almost instantly after attempting to open it. The glitch seems specific to the latest beta update, version 8.9.2.169, leaving users unable to access the app properly.
Multiple users took to social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) to express their grievances and seek solutions for the issue. “@SpotifyCares are there any known issues for the Spotify app on Android 14/Pixel 7 Pro? The app keeps crashing on my phone (and did not in the past),” voiced one user.
Another user echoed similar sentiments, tweeting, “@Spotify you’ve got a bug after your latest update…. app won’t open and keeps crashing.”
The problem appears to be widespread, with yet another user stating, “Hey @SpotifyUK, the latest Android beta keeps crashing on my Pixel 8 Pro. Please take a look #spotify.”
In parallel news, Spotify is in the testing phase of a novel feature involving AI-driven playlists, allowing users to create personalized playlists using prompts and AI technology. This “AI playlists” feature has been detected by certain users, confirmed by the platform to TechCrunch, although specific details regarding the AI technology remained undisclosed by Spotify at this time.
While users grapple with app crashes, Spotify seems to be exploring innovative AI-driven features, promising a potential enhancement to the user experience once these functionalities are fully rolled out.
