Manoj Dobhal has taken over as the new CEO of India’s first home-grown DTH service, Dish TV.
Dhobal said in a LinkedIn post on Wednesday, “Grateful & Thankful to everyone at Dish TV India Ltd. To all stakeholders for the confidence to be part of a great team poised for greater success.”
Dish TV India’s Board of Directors had approved Dobhal as the company’s CEO with the clearance from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) earlier in August.
This appointment fell under the category of Key Managerial Personnel and was to take effect on August 23, 2023, Dish TV had said in a BSE filing.
In May 2023, the Dish TV India Board proposed the appointment of Dobhal as CEO-designate and advised the management to seek prior approval from MIB as per government guidelines.
The proposed succession was prompted by Anil Dua’s request to be relieved of his duties as the company’s CEO, a position he had held since May 2017.
According to the company, Dobhal has more than 24 years of experience in setting the vision and strategy plan for developing business and increasing business margins through long-term planning across business segments such as FMCG, telecom, consumer durables, DTH, broadband, and media distribution.
Dobhal has extensive experience in the DTH industry both in India and abroad. He has managed sales and distribution, marketing, customer experience, field service, and business process automation in a variety of industries.
Before joining Dish TV, Dobhal had worked for a variety of companies, including Colgate Palmolive India, Vadilal Enterprises, Dabur India, Reliance Communication and Tata Play Fiber.
On October 11, 2022, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer of the company.
