Microsoft’s “Minecraft: Bedrock Edition” game will be available in early access on Chromebooks.
According to a Minecraft blog post published on Wednesday, the game includes cross-device play with friends, access to the Minecraft Marketplace, and the ability to play on Realms.
“While it will not be available for purchase by everyone right away (the full release will follow), it is an exciting step toward making Minecraft more accessible to even more people.”
Early access means that, for the time being, only specific Chromebook devices that meet the minimum requirements will be able to purchase Minecraft.
As a result, users must check the Google Play Store to see if the game is available to them.
The company intends to test the game’s performance with the early access version before making it available to more players.
“We’ll be working hard between now and the official launch date to ensure that Minecraft runs smoothly on Chromebook,” the tech titan said.
“We don’t yet have a confirmed release date for the full version of Minecraft for Chromebook, but once it’s officially released, everyone with a compatible Chromebook will be able to download it from the Google Play Store,” the company said.
