Government departments are setting up Quick Response Teams (QRTs) to tackle fake and misleading information on social media. The teams will monitor social media platforms and respond to incorrect information related to government policies, schemes and announcements.
According to The Economic Times report , the QRTs will verify suspicious posts, coordinate with concerned officials and issue clarifications. The departments are aiming to respond within two hours of identifying misleading information.
Departments such as power, agriculture and commerce have already formed QRTs. The teams will also coordinate with the PIB Fact Check Unit when required.
The move aims to ensure that people receive accurate information and to prevent fake or misleading claims from spreading widely on social media.
