Emmy winning actress Julianne Nicholson is set to reprise her ‘Mare of Easttown’ character in the second season of HBO’s crime drama ‘Task’, bringing the two popular series into the same fictional universe.
According to an ANI report, Nicholson will return as Lori Ross, the role that earned her a primetime Emmy Award for outstanding supporting actress. This marks the first official crossover between ‘Mare of Easttown’ and ‘Task’, both created by filmmaker and writer Brad Ingelsby.
While the makers have not revealed how Ross will fit into the new storyline, the crossover connects two acclaimed crime dramas set in the Philadelphia suburbs. Fans have long speculated about a possible link between the shows, and Nicholson’s return confirms that they share the same fictional world.
‘Task’ stars Mark Ruffalo as FBI agent Tom Brandis. The upcoming season will see him leading a new task force while investigating complex criminal cases. Season 2 will also feature new cast members, including Mahershala Ali, Edgar Ramírez, Harry Melling, Adam Nagaitis and Aminah Nieves.
“Mare of Easttown’, starring Kate Winslet, premiered in 2021 and became one of HBO’s most successful crime dramas. Nicholson’s performance as Ross received widespread praise and earned her an Emmy Award.
HBO has not yet announced a release date for ‘Task’ Season 2, but the crossover has already generated excitement among fans of both series, who are eager to see how the two stories come together.
