Aavishkar Media Group (AMG) is set to launch the much-anticipated 21st edition of the Chetna Yatra today, coinciding with the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The initiative is being powered by Zee Entertainment, which has come in as the lead partner, marking a landmark collaboration between two major forces of India’s media landscape.
Conceived in 2005 by Dr. A.K. Rastogi, Founder of Aavishkar Group, the Chetna Yatra has emerged as a cornerstone campaign of India’s broadcast and cable TV ecosystem. Over the last two decades, it has become a unique movement dedicated to enlightening, empowering, and connecting stakeholders across the broadcasting value chain — from grassroots local cable operators (LCOs) to top-tier broadcasters.
This year, the Yatra champions the vision of ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat – Vocal for Local’, spreading the message of self-reliance and swadeshi pride through the slogan ‘Swadeshi Apnaye – Desh Ka Maan Badhaye’. The campaign aligns with the broader mission of ‘Rethink, Redesign, Rebrand the Cable Network’, seeking to bring optimism and growth opportunities to the country’s cable and the satellite industry, which is the second-largest subscription TV market in the Asia-Pacific region.

Spanning 31 days, the Chetna Yatra 2025 will cover 375+ cities and towns across India, engaging with more than 20,000 industry workers through 50+ gatherings. Dr. Rastogi will personally lead interactions with stakeholders, fostering collaboration and sharing insights to help the industry adapt to the rapidly evolving media landscape.
“As we embark on the 21st Chetna Yatra, our aim is not only to celebrate two decades of this initiative but also to chart the future of India’s broadcasting and cable industry. This is more than a campaign — it is a movement of connection, empowerment and transformation,” exulted Dr. Rastogi.
The Yatra’s relevance is underscored by the transformative shifts in India’s television sector, including widespread digitisation of cable services and the rise of hybrid viewing, with households consuming a mix of linear TV and streaming platforms like JioHotstar, Prime Video and Netflix. By keeping even grassroots operators connected to these changes, the initiative continues to play a vital role in industry resilience and growth.
Over the years, the Chetna Yatra has been inaugurated by prominent leaders such as former I&B Minister Prakash Javadekar, Union Ministers Narinder Singh Tomar and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, former Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan, and Dr. Subhash Chandra, Founder of Zee Group. Their participation has highlighted the Yatra’s importance in driving innovation and industry advocacy.
The 21st edition comes at a crucial juncture, as India stands among the few nations projected to sustain double-digit growth in television advertising, even as subscription revenues plateau. This year’s Yatra is powered by Zee Entertainment as the lead partner, with Live Times, GTPL and GTPL Buzz joining as Associate Partners. It is further supported by Dangal TV, Dangal Play, Sanskar, Satsang TV and Fastway, while Indianbroadcastingworld.com serves as the digital media partner. Together, these collaborations reinforce the Yatra’s mission to address the sector’s most pressing challenges and unlock new opportunities for growth.
The Chetna Yatra 2025 promises to be a milestone edition — a journey that aims to unite, inspire and redefine the future of India’s media landscape that’s getting fractious and complex.
