ZEE5 is set to premiere ‘Manorathangal,’ an epic anthology series celebrating the 90-year legacy of renowned writer and filmmaker M.T. Vasudevan Nair, commonly known as M.T.
The series, which marks a significant milestone in Malayalam cinema, will debut on August 15, 2024. It features a star-studded cast and a lineup of some of the finest directors from the South Indian film industry.
‘Manorathangal’ consists of nine interconnected stories, each exploring the complexities of human nature against the lush backdrop of Kerala. Penned by M.T. himself, the anthology delves into the paradoxes of human behavior, highlighting our capacity for both kindness and base impulses. The series aims to offer a rich and nuanced portrayal of humanity, appealing to a wide audience.
The anthology opens with ‘Ollavum Theeravum’ (Ripples and the River Bank), starring Mohanlal and directed by Priyadarshan. Other notable stories include ‘Kadugannava Oru Yathra Kurippu’ (Kadugannava: A Travel Note) featuring Mammootty, directed by Ranjith, and ‘Shilalikhitam’ (
The ensemble cast includes Parvathy Thiruvothu, Harish Uthaman, Madhoo, Asif Ali, Fahadh Faasil, Zareena Moidu, Kaillash, Indrans, Nedumudi Venu, Enji Panicker, Surabhi Lakshmi, Siddhique, Ishit Yamini, Nazir, Indrajith, and Aparna Balamurali, directed by acclaimed filmmakers such as Shyamaprasad, Aswathy Nair, Mahesh Narayanan, Jayarajan Nair, Santosh Sivan, and Rathish Ambat.
