This Valentine’s Day, ZEE5 is set to turn the conventional romance narrative on its head with its upcoming series ‘Pyaar Testing’. The trailer, which has just been released, offers a tantalizing glimpse into a story where love is put to the ultimate compatibility test, challenging age-old traditions and questioning the very nature of marriage in today’s rapidly evolving world.
Pyaar Testing stars Satyajeet Dubey and Plabita Borthakur, who bring to life the characters of Dhruv Pratap Rathore and Amrita Singh Chauhan. Dhruv, an architect, water conservationist, and staunch meat lover with a deep sense of social responsibility, finds himself drawn into a clash of ideologies when he meets Amrita—a fierce animal rights activist and vegan café owner. Their encounter unfolds in the culturally rich backdrop of Rajasthan, where conservative Rajput families and modern love collide.
The series takes an unconventional twist when an arranged marriage setup leads to an unexpected proposal: Amrita suggests a two-month, platonic live-in relationship as a trial run before committing to marriage. This ‘trial by love’ not only disrupts traditional expectations but also invites viewers to question whether love can indeed bridge the gap between steadfast customs and contemporary values.
Directed by Shiva Varma and Saptaraj Chakraborty, Pyaar Testing is a modern romance infused with humor, cultural contrasts, and emotional depth. Shiva Varma explained, “We are beyond excited to bring Pyaar Testing to audiences on ZEE5. This story is not just about love; it’s about challenging conventions and embracing relationships in a world where traditions and modernity often collide. The concept revolves around the idea of testing compatibility before committing fully—a fresh take on live-in relationships that also involves the guy’s side of the family under one roof.”
Saptaraj Chakraborty added, “Bringing Pyaar Testing to life has been an incredibly fulfilling experience. This series dares to ask important questions about relationships, commitment, and the notion of ‘testing’ love before taking the plunge. Weaving a vibrant narrative against the dynamic cityscape of Jaipur, we have merged modern sensibilities with deeply entrenched traditions to create a story that is both thought-provoking and entertaining.”
On the acting front, Satyajeet Dubey shares that his character Dhruv is more than just a traditional lover—he is a man of conviction who is forced to re-evaluate his values in light of new experiences and growing affection. Plabita Borthakur, portraying the determined and pragmatic Amrita, expressed her enthusiasm for the project, noting, “Amrita is someone who believes that love should be built on understanding, compatibility, and honesty. It’s refreshing to portray a character who questions the status quo while discovering new facets of herself and the people around her.”
Scheduled to premiere on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025, Pyaar Testing promises to be the perfect blend of romance, humor, and societal commentary—a series that invites viewers to explore the delicate balance between personal choice and societal expectations. With its bold narrative and innovative storytelling, ZEE5’s latest offering is poised to capture the hearts of those who dare to reimagine what it means to love in the modern world.
