This July, Zee Cinema brings an emotional treat for its viewers with the World Television Premiere of ‘Hi Papa’ — a heartwarming story that celebrates the bond between a father and daughter. Starring Nani and Mrunal Thakur in lead roles, the film is set to premiere on Tuesday, July 29.
Directed by debutant Shouryuv, ‘Hi Papa’ takes audiences through an intimate journey of love, family, and second chances. The story revolves around the deeply emotional connection between a father and his daughter, exploring themes of separation, healing, and rediscovered relationships. Known for its soul-stirring storytelling and touching performances, the film has already resonated with audiences during its theatrical release and now promises to reach wider homes across the country through Zee Cinema.
According to a press release issued by Zee Cinema, the film stars Nani as the doting father and Mrunal Thakur as Yashna, each delivering moving performances. Child actor Kiara Khanna, playing the role of Mahi, adds a sincere and tender dimension to the film, leaving a lasting impact with her innocence and charm. The music, composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab, complements the storyline beautifully, further intensifying the emotional undertones of the narrative.
Speaking about his role, actor Nani shared, “I think I was the first one to come on board for Hi Papa, and when I hear a script, I don’t listen to it as an actor — I experience it as an audience member first. When I heard this story, it truly moved me. It had been a long time since I came across a film that captured the beauty of love and the bond between a father and daughter in such a heartfelt way. I was craving to be a part of something like this.”
Mrunal Thakur, who plays the character of Yashna, added, “The moment Shouryuv Garu narrated the script to me, I was completely drawn in. I’m very emotionally connected to the characters I choose, and in my heart, I knew Yashna was someone only I could bring to life. Filming Hi Papa brought back so many memories from my own childhood, and it was an incredibly personal journey for me.”
For first-time director Shouryuv, Hi Papa was a personal and emotional debut. “Hi Papa may be a fictional story, but it’s deeply rooted in emotions and experiences that have shaped me. As a first-time director, I wanted to tell a story that’s heartfelt and universally relatable—something every family, across any language, could connect with,” he said. “The love the film has received so far has been truly overwhelming. I’m now excited for audiences on Zee Cinema to experience the same warmth and emotion that went into creating Hi Papa.”
Zee Cinema has positioned ‘Hi Papa’ as part of a heartfelt programming lineup, blending emotionally rich storytelling with family-centric entertainment. Viewers can expect a moving experience that tugs at heartstrings, offering an ideal afternoon watch for families looking to share stories that matter.
