Zee 24 TAAS launches ‘Anandwari’ to honour Wari

As the air of Ashadh fills with divine chants of ‘Vitthal Vitthal’ and the streets resonate with the steady rhythm of cymbals and abhangas, Zee 24 TAAS has unveiled a special programming initiative titled ‘Anandwari’ a powerful tribute to Maharashtra’s iconic Wari pilgrimage that has endured for over 800 years. With this soulful series, the channel moves beyond traditional reportage to deliver an emotional, cultural, and spiritual portrayal of one of India’s most profound religious journeys.

According to a press release issued by Zee 24 TAAS, Anandwari is not merely a news feature but a “heartfelt celebration of devotion” that honours the unwavering spirit of more than 10 lakh Warkaris. The show airs daily at 6:30 pm, with a repeat telecast at 6:30 AM, ensuring that devotees and viewers across Maharashtra remain connected with the sanctity and energy of the Wari — no matter where they are.

In an expansive lineup specially curated for Ashadhi Ekadashi, Zee 24 TAAS will begin its programming at 2 am on the auspicious day, presenting viewers with soul-stirring bhajans and traditional abhangas till 6 am. The spiritual atmosphere will build up to a unique fusion performance by the Abhang Band, which reinterprets traditional devotional verses in a modern rock format. A key highlight will be the live telecast of the state’s Chief Minister performing the sacred pooja — a moment that holds immense emotional resonance for the people of Maharashtra.

This year’s coverage also features popular Marathi actor Sandeep Pathak in a special role as the cultural storyteller of ‘Anandwari’. Known for his strong connect with Maharashtrian traditions and his nuanced portrayal of real-life characters, Pathak brings a rare authenticity and emotional depth to the programming. His candid interactions with Warkaris, coupled with reflective storytelling, provide viewers with a deeply immersive and meaningful experience of the pilgrimage.

Sharing his thoughts on the initiative, Kamlesh Sutar, Editor of Zee 24 TAAS, said, “Anandwari is our effort to present one of Maharashtra’s most cherished traditions with the depth, respect, and consistency it deserves. The Wari is not just a religious event — it is a reflection of collective faith, endurance, and cultural identity. Through our daily coverage and special segments, we aim to offer viewers a complete and immersive perspective of this spiritual journey. Zee 24 TAAS is committed to showcasing stories that connect with people at an emotional level while upholding the values of credible and responsible journalism.”

To capture the essence of this massive and emotionally charged event, Zee 24 TAAS has deployed dedicated reporting teams across key routes of the Wari. These teams will provide real-time updates, capture behind-the-scenes moments, offer spiritual insights, and share pilgrim voices throughout the journey. Through Anandwari, the channel aims to go beyond just news coverage — creating a cultural bridge that reconnects people to their spiritual and cultural roots.

With this special series, Zee 24 TAAS continues to position itself as a storyteller rooted in the soil of Maharashtra, reaffirming its commitment to regional identity and heritage, even as it upholds its legacy of responsible journalism.
