In a bid to enhance security measures, WhatsApp, the messaging platform under Meta’s ownership, is reportedly in the process of introducing a novel security feature for its Android beta users. The feature will revolve around the use of email addresses to bolster account protection.
The forthcoming security enhancement will prompt users to furnish their email addresses. This email will serve a dual purpose: safeguarding and validating their WhatsApp accounts.
Although the specific scenarios where the email address will come into play to fortify account security remain undisclosed, it’s worth noting that the feature is presently in the developmental phase, IANS reported.
Unlike the existing procedure involving email addresses, which is utilized during the configuration of two-step verification, this new security attribute will remain optional.
Anticipated to be incorporated in a forthcoming update of the application, this feature will offer an additional layer of safeguarding by leveraging the potential of email addresses.
