Prime Video’s extensive entertainment line-up for Prime Day 2023 in India, held on July 15 and 16, received an overwhelming response from both domestic and international audiences.

The service introduced a range of captivating original content, movies, and shows as part of the Prime Day 2023 celebrations, attracting Prime members from 4,490 cities and towns across India, the streamer said in a media statement yesterday.

Notably, the platform continued to showcase Indian stories on a global scale, with Indian titles featured in this year’s Prime Day line-up being watched in over 230 countries and territories.

As per the press release, in the 30 days leading up to Prime Day 2023 sale on Amazon.com, Prime Video released a total of 12 movies and shows, and eight of these titles secured spots among the top ten most-watched content on Prime Video India during that period.

The Prime Day line-up garnered an enthusiastic response from audiences all over the country, with viewership spanning over 99 percent of India’s pin codes.

Moreover, Prime Video extended its reach to offer global entertainment, as international shows and movies released during Prime Day 2023 were streamed by customers in 97 percent of India’s pin codes.

The Prime Day 2023 India line-up on Prime Video featured a diverse array of shows and movies, including the original horror series ‘Adhura’ (Hindi) and the final season of the popular series Tom Clancy’s ‘Jack Ryan’.

Audiences also enjoyed the superhero film ‘Veeran’ (Tamil) and the family entertainer ‘Anni Manchi Sakunamule’ (Telugu). Among the highlights were the Hindi series ‘Jee Karda’, starring Tamannaah Bhatia, which beautifully explores the intricacies of love and friendship, and the Hindi movie ‘Tiku Weds Sheru’, a dramedy centered around two starry-eyed characters aspiring to succeed in Bollywood.

Additionally, the Hindi version of the global blockbuster ‘Ponniyin Selvan: II’ was well-received.

The celebrations continued with the original Tamil series ‘Sweet Kaaram Coffee’, capturing the unforgettable journey of three women from different generations rediscovering their love for life, and the Telugu adaptation of the hit young adult comedy-drama series, ‘Hostel Days’.

Further, customers were treated to the second season of the popular original series ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’, the acclaimed film ‘Babylon’, and the action-packed thriller ‘Kandahar’, starring Gerard Butler and India’s Ali Fazal.

Meanwhile, according to some additional information put out by Amazon on its website, the sale also saw some other interesting trends.

For example, there was a huge spike in premium electronics led by premium audio brands like Sony, Bose, and JBL where a noise-cancelling headphone was sold every 20 seconds of the sale days.

30 TVs were sold every minute with premium 4K, QLED and OLED TVs seeing the most demand. This was fuelled by a wide selection across screen sizes.

Prime members enjoyed big savings on Amazon devices with customers buying a Fire TV, Echo (with Alexa), or Kindle device every 2 seconds. The Fire TV Stick and Echo Dot 4th gen were among the best-selling products on Amazon.in during Prime Day.

Alexa continued to make homes smarter—almost every two out of three Echo customers started on their smart-home journey this Prime Day with purchases of Alexa smart home combos (i.e. Echo smart speaker + Alexa-compatible devices).

Alexa helped nearly 10 lakh customers to search for their favourite products on Amazon.in. Fifteen exclusive podcasts were launched on Amazon Music.
