The makers of ‘Tumbbad 2’ have officially announced that the much-anticipated sequel will hit theatres on December 3, 2027, marking the return of one of Indian cinema’s most distinctive horror universes. The film brings back the eerie, folklore-driven world that first captivated audiences with ‘Tumbbad’.
According to a UNI report, the announcement follows the successful re-release of ‘Tumbbad’ in 2024, which once again drew strong audience response and renewed interest in the film’s unique storytelling. Over the years, the original film has steadily built a cult following, carving a niche for folklore-based horror in Indian cinema.
Actor-producer Sohum Shah, who played a key role in shaping the first film, said the sequel will expand the same world with greater depth while staying true to its original spirit. He noted that while ‘Tumbbad 2’ will feel familiar in tone and mythology, it will present a fresh narrative layered with new elements.
The upcoming film is directed by Adesh Prasad and produced under Sohum Shah Films, with Jayantilal Gada’s Pen Studios also backing the project. The makers have indicated that the sequel will scale up the cinematic experience, deepening the mythology while aiming to keep audiences fully engaged.
With its blend of atmospheric storytelling and rooted folklore, ‘Tumbbad 2’ is expected to build on the legacy of its predecessor, offering a richer and more expansive exploration of the haunting world that first left a lasting impression on viewers.
