Hollywood star Anya Taylor-Joy has joined the cast of the upcoming fantasy adventure film ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum’, adding another high-profile name to the much-anticipated return to Middle-earth.
According to a PTI report that quoted Variety, Taylor-Joy will play Seren, a Sindar Elf of the Woodland Realm. The character is described as a trusted and highly skilled agent of King Thranduil, bringing a new presence to the expanding story set within J.R.R. Tolkien’s iconic fantasy universe.
The actress joins an ensemble cast that already includes Andy Serkis, Ian McKellen and Elijah Wood. Serkis, who famously portrayed Gollum in the original ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘The Hobbit trilogies’, is also directing the project.
The film marks the latest addition to the globally successful ‘Lord of the Rings’ franchise, which continues to expand decades after filmmaker Peter Jackson first brought Tolkien’s epic saga to the big screen.
While plot details remain closely guarded, ‘The Hunt for Gollum’ is expected to explore events surrounding the pursuit of Gollum during the timeline of ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’.
