Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has said that the Finance Ministry, in charge of economic policies, was not in favour of granting ‘industry status’ to cable distribution segment of the broadcasting sector.

MIB says no deadline for national b’cast policy formulation

While admitting that consultations are underway to formulate a national broadcast policy in India to further empower the broadcast sector, the government has said there’s no time frame to firm up the National Broadcast Policy, which has “multi-dimensional implications”.
