Shanaya Kapoor is set to make her digital debut with the upcoming series ‘Student of the Year: After Dark’. The series will premiere on JioHotstar on November 13.
According to a UNI India report yesterday, the series is directed by Reema Maya and produced by Dharmatic Entertainment. It presents a new take on the popular ‘Student of the Year’ franchise, focusing on mystery, adventure and thriller elements instead of the glamour and romance associated with the earlier films.
The story is set on the St. Teresa’s campus, where mysterious events and unexpected twists form the central part of the plot. The series aims to explore the franchise in a different style.
Karan Johar, who launched the original ‘Student of the Year’ film in 2012, is returning with this new chapter. He said the makers have tried to offer something new by moving away from the franchise’s established style.
Director Reema Maya described the series as a thriller based on competition, while Shanaya Kapoor said her character is layered and realistic and that playing the role has been a challenging experience.
