Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya will visit India later this month on her first official trip since assuming office. The highlight of the visit will be her participation in the NDTV World Summit 2025, scheduled to be held on October 17–18 in New Delhi.
According to an official NDTV press release, the NDTV World Summit, now in its second edition, is positioned as a premier global platform that brings together heads of state, policymakers, business leaders, scientists, and cultural figures to discuss the world’s most pressing challenges and opportunities. This year’s theme — ‘Edge of the Unknown: Risk. Resolve. Renewal.’— focuses on how nations can navigate uncertainty and build resilience in an era defined by rapid transformation.
Prime Minister Amarasuriya’s participation is expected to add a strong South Asian dimension to the Summit’s conversations on regional stability, sustainable development, and economic renewal. Her visit also highlights the deepening relationship between India and Sri Lanka and reinforces the importance of such platforms in fostering cross-border dialogue and cooperation.
Sharing her thoughts ahead of the visit, Prime Minister Amarasuriya said,“This will be my first official visit to India as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. India and Sri Lanka are bound together by history, culture, and shared values. I am looking forward to participating at the NDTV World Summit, where I will have the opportunity to engage with global leaders and thinkers. I hope to share Sri Lanka’s perspectives on international cooperation and economic resilience and to contribute to meaningful conversations on the pressing challenges of our region and the world.”
The 2025 edition of the NDTV World Summit will see a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott. Other notable participants include Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Harvard Professor Tarun Khanna, Raymond Group Chairman Gautam Singhania, General Atomics CEO Vivek Lall, astronaut Subhanshu Shukla, MIT’s Neill Thomson, OpenAI Chief Economist Dr. Ronnie Chatterji, Yemeni-Emirati singer and actress Balqees Ahmed Fathi, and quantum physicist and ballerina Dr. Merritt Moore.
