Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has entered into a broadcast partnership with LIV Golf, bringing the 2026 season of the global golf league to audiences across India and several South Asian and Central Asian markets. The agreement marks a significant addition to Sony’s expanding sports portfolio, offering viewers access to one of golf’s most talked-about formats.
According to an SPNI release yesterday, the deal will see Sony deliver comprehensive live coverage of the LIV Golf League across its linear television channels under the Sony Sports Network, as well as its OTT platform Sony LIV. The coverage will extend beyond India to include Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan and the Maldives, ensuring wide regional reach.
The partnership complements SPNI’s existing 2026 broadcast agreement for The International Series, co-sanctioned by LIV Golf and the Asian Tour. Together, these properties provide a complete ecosystem for golf fans, from emerging talent competing in The International Series to established stars in the LIV Golf League, while also offering pathways into major global tournaments.
The 2026 LIV Golf League season features 14 events across 10 countries and five continents, reflecting the league’s global ambition. A strong Asia leg remains a key part of the calendar, with events such as LIV Golf Hong Kong and LIV Golf Singapore already completed, and LIV Golf Korea scheduled from May 28 to 31. Sony’s coverage began earlier with LIV Golf South Africa and will continue through the season, culminating in the Team Championship in Michigan in August.
The league brings together some of the biggest names in world golf, including Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson and Sergio García, alongside rising talents such as David Puig and Tom McKibbin. The format, known for its shotgun start and faster pace, is designed to deliver more action within a shorter broadcast window, blending individual competition with team-based rivalries.
Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer and Business Head, Sports and International at SPNI, said the addition of LIV Golf strengthens Sony’s live sports offering and aligns with its strategy of delivering premium global sporting experiences. LIV Golf’s SVP of International Media Rights, Örjan Olsson, highlighted the importance of the partnership in expanding the league’s reach and visibility in a key market like India.
Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri also described the collaboration as a significant moment for the sport in the country, noting that wider broadcast access could inspire young players and bring fans closer to the evolving format of global golf.
With this partnership, Sony aims to position LIV Golf alongside its existing top-tier sports properties, while offering audiences in the region consistent access to elite international golf throughout the 2026 season.
